Warwick Castle 17th / 18th July 2020

Having had our Merlin Annual Passes for three years, I thought it was about time we visited Warwick Castle

So, we travelled up Saturday morning after picking up our picnic from Mint Cafe in Sawbridgeworth (have to admit, I forgot to take photos of these when we got there!)

Once we got to the castle, we parked up and went in, had our temp checks done and was asked to show our booking confirmation along with our passes – if you’re not staying in the Knights Village, then it is essential to prebook tickets, only £1 for passholders. Very quick and easy to get in.

Once in, we met up with our friends One Abbey Lane (give them a follow, clicking on that link back there will take you to their insta page!) and had our lunches.

We had a walk around the Horrible Histories maze, although currently you have to follow a one way system, it was still fun.

Once done the maze, we went for a wander round and what a beautiful place it is.

We then headed back to the cars & drove round to watch Disney Pixar’s Cars with the Luna Drive In Cinema & it was awesome.

And to finish off the evening, we checked in to our lodge in the Knights Village, we even managed to get a cheeky upgrade into one of the bigger lodges! Me & Charlie said goodbye to our friends and headed for dinner. We had a great first day at the castle, all staff very friendly and helpful, lots of hand sanitiser around and didn’t feel busy at all, plus the restaurant was very well spaced out and lots of cleaning regularly going on.

Check out in the morning was very easy, just pop the card into the postbox outside the hotel reception. Breakfast was great, you get shown to your seat where you order your drinks and get toast brought to you. Cooked buffet, you are asked to wait until no one is up at the counter, then you go up and the chef serves you, you can go up as many times as you want. Cereal & fruit you help yourself. They were happy enough to cook some small pancakes too for Charlie!

We can’t wait to go back
