Feeling Down

Recently Charlie has been feeling down, he has been missing the routine of school and his after school activities – Cricket, Swimmimg and Football,  but more importantly, he has been missing his friends, he’s scared that this will never end 😢

We have been staying at my parents house and between myself and my parents, we have been doing what we can to keep him busy, but it’s just not the same as being with your friends.

Every afternoon at 3pm, Charlie logs into a Zoom  chat with his cousin in Texas and their distant cousins over here (take a look at their Insta page One Abbey Lane if you want to know what they get up too) they have a story time, where they all take it in turns to read something.

Then at 4:30pm they all log in again to do an art class with my mum (granny)

So this is a little bit of our current “normal” routine!! I then try and organise for Charlie to talk to a different school friend at least three times a week via Facebook Messenger, What’s App or FaceTime. Lastly, I have for a while not allowed him to play Roblox, but the majority of his school friends are on it, so I gave in,  on the understanding that he is only accepts “friend requests” from people he knows. This gives him another way to chat to his friends.

I have found a couple of good websites for me to read through that gives parents tips to help kids through this tough, challenging & scary time for kids Young Minds and Action For Children (this takes you to the parent site)

Thank you for reading
